James P. Nolan is the Founding Partner of the Law Offices of Nolan & Lange and one of New Jersey's most highly respected attorneys in criminal defense, municipal law, and civil litigation. With over 35 years of experience, he is widely recognized for his leadership, legal acumen, and unwavering commitment to delivering the best possible outcomes for his clients. His longstanding career, coupled with decades of civic service, has earned him a trusted reputation among peers, judges, and clients alike.

Experienced Attorney in Criminal Defense & Municipal Law

Throughout his career, Mr. Nolan has built a reputation for successfully handling a wide variety of legal matters, with a particular emphasis on criminal and municipal court defense. He is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Criminal Trial Attorney and is regarded for his strategic courtroom approach and deep familiarity with the judicial process.

His practice extends to public entity defense as well. For over 15 years, Mr. Nolan has served as Fund Attorney for the New Jersey Public Housing Authority Joint Insurance Fund, developing highly specialized experience in defending claims against government agencies. His understanding of New Jersey's regulatory environment and joint insurance fund operations makes him an invaluable advocate for both public clients and individuals

Extensive Knowledge in Local Government & Public Entity Defense

Mr. Nolan is a seasoned public entity defense attorney who has served on legal panels for numerous joint insurance funds throughout New Jersey. He is well-versed in matters involving Title 59 of the New Jersey Statutes, which governs the rights and liabilities of public entities and employees. His work includes defending police departments and municipal agencies in civil rights cases, use-of-force allegations, and wrongful arrest claims.

He has also served as Law Director for Woodbridge Township for over 20 years, advising local officials on policy, compliance, and litigation strategy. This role, combined with his litigation experience, gives Mr. Nolan a rare dual perspective - combining deep legal expertise with a firsthand understanding of municipal governance.

Leadership in Legal and Civic Roles

Mr. Nolan's impact extends beyond the courtroom. In 2005, he was named Irishman of the Year by the Middlesex County Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and served as Grand Marshal of the Woodbridge Irish American St. Patrick's Day Parade that same year.
